Runway 36 Extension Project
McKinney National Airport (TKI) is currently undertaking a construction project to extend Runway 36 500' to the south. Project duration is anticipated to be six months, ending in June 2023.
For the duration of the project, Runway 36 has a relocated Threshold 1,107’ north of the pre-construction Threshold. The relocated Threshold is located approximately halfway between Taxiway B4 and B5. Due to the relocated Threshold, Runway 18-36 will have a shortened length of 5,894’ to accommodate the required Runway Safety Area for the construction activity on the south end. Pavement beyond the relocated Threshold Bar is Runway Safety Area.
Taxiway B5 will be closed between Runway 36 and Taxiway A. There is no Taxiway connectivity south of Taxiway B4.
The ILS will remain shut off until the Runway 36 Extension project is complete. RNAV and GPS approaches will not be impacted by the ILS shut down.
