Adopt-a-Spot | Year round litter prevention program

Litter is unsightly, bad for the environment and costly to tax payers. Help keep McKinney Beautiful and volunteer to help collect litter in our parks, along a road or green space, or near a creek. Adopt-a-Spot is a great opportunity to improve your community by preventing pollution, practice good citizenship, have a great time, and receive recognition.

Annual litter pick-up events

Twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall, the city hosts large litter pick-up events: the Texas Trash-off and the Trinity Trash Bash. Check out the city calendar for updates on these and other environmentally focused events.

S.W.I.M. - Stormwater Inlet Marking

  • Marking stormwater inlets is a great way to raise awareness about things that affect the health of our creeks and our community. 
  • Volunteer to help us mark our stormwater inlets on Make-a-Difference day in October. 
  • Earn service hours towards scout badges, green cards and other organization requirements.
